Notes for HARRIET STEPHENS:

Harriet was educated in Detroit where she taught for several years. She became a widow at the age of 26. She cared for her home and children and when her mother's failing health called for attention, she shared this responsibility with her sister, Carrie. The farm was then broken up. Harriet traveled with Carrie to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1903 as well as traveling to California and Washington. During her last years, Harriet, or Hattie as she was known, became blind.

Notes for LUCY HYDE STEPHENS:  Lucy attended Normal School and taught in the Detroit public schools for several years.

Notes for JEROME B. STEVENS:  After the death of Lucy, Jerome moved to Bay City where he started his own dairy and creamery business.  When J.B. Stevens relocated his family from Oakland to Bay City, he opened "Stevens Creamery" in 1902.

Notes for HALSEY LEWIS STEPHENS:

According to Oakland Co. records, Halsey was the son of Jonathan and Charlotte Hyde Stephens. He was age 68y, 9m, 23 days when he died in Southfield Twp. He attended the Michigan Agricultural

College and then purchased the old farm of his grandfather, Edward Stephens. After Amanda's death he rented the farm and traveled south and west, thinking to make a change. Eventually he returned and after his second marriage, settled near the old home.
